Opening the Purse

By: David | January 27th, 2009

Sources reveal that City are in discussion with Cardiff City’s Darren Purse over a permanent transfer.
The 31 year old is out of contract in the summer and hasn’t featured for Cardiff in some weeks. Purse has plenty of experience at this level being a good strong centre half tasting promotion to and relegation from the Premier League. 6′2″ Purse bagan his career at Leyton Orient, before moving to Oxford and then onto Blues where he spent six years. Albion paid £500k for him in 2004 before a £750k move to Cardiff the following year playing in most games for the past two seasons. This season however chances have been limited to just 12 starts and 6 sub appearances in the league.

Certainly a good centre half and target man are at the very top of Gunny’s shopping list. Having come into the manager’s chair from player liaison officer Bryan should have plenty of player details at his disposal.
