Gunn Challenges Doc’s Dismissal

By: David | February 9th, 2009

Norwich have appealed against the sending off of Gary Doherty in the 44th minute against Bristol City on Saturday. replays seem to show that he played the ball first but a penalty was awarded from which Bradley Orr won the game for Bristol and the Doc got his marching orders. If unsuccessful Doc will serve a two match suspension as it is his second red card of the season.

Manager Bryan Gunn explained the clubs decision for appealing: “We’ve looked at it over the weekend on replays, ITV’s The Championship and our footage. We certainly see Gary Doherty playing the ball before anything else and we are appealing on that basis.”

Hopefully the behind closed doors panel will overturn the card when they sit tomorrow in Soho Square, London.
