Gunn on D’Urso
By: David | February 8th, 2009Bryan Gunn had this to say to the BBC about everyone’s favourite referee. “The lads did everything they could to get something out of the game but did not get the support they needed from the people in charge of the game. I went to speak to Mr D’Urso immediately after the game but I am a bit new to this management lark and he told me I had to wait for 30 minutes. So 30 minutes and one second later I went to see him and I didn’t get much back to be honest.” On his failure to award a penalty for the blatant shove on Adam Drury Gunn said: “I went in to see Andy and I think he knows he made a mistake. You can look in people’s eyes and you can know that. He didn’t say anything, I didn’t get anything from him at all. The assessor was in there as well and they sort of shut up shop.
We’ve seen the pictures and on the screen that I saw there were only three people in the picture – one was their right-back, one was our left-back and the other was the referee, so how that decision came about beggars belief. “I don’t know if referees phone you up and say sorry. I don’t know what they do these days.” Added Gunn: “It is frustrating and I was asking the fourth official on occasions and he was even looking surprised at some of the decisions. I don’t know what the assessor will say to Andy.”
I wanted to give you my own interview, but with Joe Kinnear still in hospital I’ll have to imagine what he thinks of Mr D’Urso.
Here goes.
Me: Hello Mr Kinnear, I’ve brought you some grapes. So, do you know Andy D’Urso?
JK: D’Urso? Yeah I *@#$*$@ know him. He’s a #@*$. A complete $€”#@€% €*^$. I wouldn’t *##€ on that */£$ if he was on fire. */€$=+%$ £&^$%* he is. What a /#@*$€ waste of skin. The *$&^”£’s a €*#$@&% oxygen thief.
Nurse: That’s enough for now, he’s getting too animated.
Me: Okay, sorry Mr Kinnear. Hope you’re feeling much better soon.
