Norwich City today sensationally sacked manager Bryan Gunn on the eve of City’s first away league game of the season. The Club has only played two games this season. Admittedly they were a 7-1 home thrashing at the hands of also rans Colchester, the Club’s worst ever home defeat and the worst display of goalkeeping and defending ever witnessed in senior football. The second game was the 4-0 win over Yeovil in the first round of the League Cup. Although you can only beat what’s put in front of you, it was hardly a tough test.

I wasn’t in favour of Gunn’s appointment in the first place, but to sack him now having just assembled his own squad, and with every other decent manager in employment, is rather strange. Especially on the eve of the first away league game of the season.

The board have been decisive, but perhaps too decisive, too early. Considering the shambolic defending and midfield display of Saturday I’m surprised the entire coaching staff have remained if the manager has been fired. Obviously someone is required to prepare the team for tomorrows game, but I’d be pretty worried if I were Messrs Butterworth and Crook. Unless the board plan on offering them the position full time…

Attracting a replacement may prove difficult with such mayhem off the field and the board seemingly having an itchy trigger finger, so I would imagine they have a name or have made contact with someone regarding taking over prior to pulling the trigger on Gunn.

IPSWICH Town clown Jon Walters has taken on a new role as the scum dream of a home win over Norwich City on Sunday; sitting in the stands at Carrow Road against Sheffield Wednesday.

The 25-year-old attacking midfielder paid a visit to Carrow Road the week before Easter to watch the Canaries in action against Sheffield Wednesday.

“I have told the coaching staff what I saw and my opinions,” said Walters. “It feels like I have joined the scouting staff. And if it helps us to pocket three points at the weekend I will feel it is a job well done.”

“I used to go to school with Sheffield Wednesday defender Richard Hinds’ wife, and he is a big mate of mine. He was at Hull City and also Scunthorpe, and we keep in touch. Along with his wife he came back to ours to stay after the game at Norwich, and it was good time for Richard as the Owls had won 1-0. Sheffield Wednesday deserved to win and their display offered some pointers to how we can gain revenge over the Canaries for our defeat at their place.” No doubt Walters attempted to lay on a spit roast for entertainment.

…teams battling for survival. Our boys and Barnsley. Given Forest’s excellent efforts yesterday to win against Bristol City I can see them pulling away from the danger zone, and all of the noises coming from the Forest camp seem positive. Although I realise that they are in fact behind Barnsley in the league table I just feel that they will pull away.
Meanwhile, our run in has all kinds of alarm bells ringing in my head. With Watford visiting Carrow Road tomorrow it really is a must win game. Because after that we travel down the road to portaloo road and the derby match against the scum. Maybe they’ll do us a favour, Alan Lee is bound to score against them, but will we win it, I’m not sure. Then Reading pay us a visit in front of Sky’s cameras. We’ve ground out some results in live fixtures this season, Forest and the scummers, so maybe we’ll do it again. However, Reading are stuttering at the moment and they must surely turn it around soon, what better place than our hospitable home. Finally comes Charlton away. We’ve hardly produced our best results at the Valley and aren’t exactly high on confidence nor particularly impressive at handling pressure matches, and I don’t believe we’ll get anything down in London.
So, barring tomorrows game, I think we’re looking at 46 points. Grim predictions I know because that is a relegation score. I hope I’m wrong, but I won’t hold my breath.
Come On City!!!
